Getting the Ball Rolling

 ABI 198 - Section A

4/4/25

Today was a fantastic start to our research days! We spent the day in the pollinator garden making observations and learning more about our individual interests. Our goal for today was to leave with ideas for what to study.

Here are the minutes from today:

10am - Met at the parking lot to go to the Bee Haven

10:15 - Morning meeting with Adrian

    1) We discussed how today was a day to focus on reflections and observation

    2) We spoke about being efficient and focused

    3) We talked about how important it was to use all our senses

10:15-10:35 - Solo walk to make observations

10:35-11 - Group walks to make observations

11-11:15 - Group Discussion

    1) What people saw

    2) What people focused on

    3) Marshall mentioned a bird call app called Birdwizard to help identify birds

11:15- 11:20 - I went over what we're going to be doing next week

Some notable observations from today:

Eva saw a beetle on the California Poppy. Sai and Grace saw a red-tailed hawk. Manu saw a bee and wondered about different flowers, how do the bees interact with each species and where does cross-pollination come to play.
